Choosing a car seat

Choosing your baby's car seat.
When you think of bringing home your baby one of the big things you think of is how can I keep my baby safe?
A proper car seat is a major necessity.
You don't have to spend hundreds of dollars on a car seat so baby is safe. The truth is the cheapest car seat the store carries has passed the tests and is safe for your baby when installed correctly.
It is a law that all car seats sold in the US must pass the same crash test.
So when looking for your baby's car seat keep in mind that every car seat is just as safe as the other ones on the shelves, You can still opt for a more expensive car seat with all the bells and whistles.
Make sure When looking for your new baby's first car seat you need to be looking for an Infant car seat, its a rear facing car seat, which means when baby is in car seat he or she should be facing the back of the back seat.
Check if there is a good return policy at the store and keep your receipt in case the car seat doesn't fit well in your car. You may be able to see if a sales associate will help you take the floor model car seat to your car to see if it fits. If they can't you could always try to install your car seat before you leave the parking lot to make sure its right for your vehicle.
The base:
Most places that sells car seats also sell an extra base if you have another vehicle, if they don't you can visit the manufactures website or call the number in your instructions and order an extra base.
You can visit your local fire department to make sure you have installed the car seat properly for baby.
Try avoiding a used car seat unless it was yours from an older child, but you must make sure the car seat is still up to standards, call the manufacture and give the the model of the car seat.
It is important that you make sure you register your car seat when you purchase it, so if your car seat is recalled you will be informed of the recall.
Heres a pic of the snuggler.
Head, neck and body supports.
Neck and body support is important for your newborns car seat, so that your baby will feel secure and wont have to strain to hold her body still.
Some of the more expensive car seats come with the supports, if yours doesn't you can also buy one.
I absolutely loved the neck and body support that we bought for my son's car seat. it was so soft and fuzzy and my son just seemed so comfy in it. We bought his at babies-r-us for about 19 bucks. You can also find it on eBay or wal-mart. You can also buy a different one but I really recommend this one. Its the Kiddopotamus Snuzzler; it gives complete head and body support. Its really awesome. You can even use it in your stroller, bouncy seat and swing! I give it a two thumbs up!!!
