Reusing household items

Going green can be a little expensive to some families, some eco friendly products seem to cost more that regular stuff, so My household can't really afford to go as green as we would like to. But I have found some way that we can go green and not go broke, simply by reusing house hold items.

Do you think money effects whether someone goes "Green" or not?

  1. Baby wipes containers: You can reuse these for a number of things:
  • You can use them to store your old plastic shopping bags until you have them recycled or to contain them if you choose to reuse them. Storing them will keep thinks neat and organised.
  • You can use them to hold small toys like match box cars, GI Joe's, Little Dolls ETC...You can use them to hold crayons, pencils and other craft items/school supplies.

You can also decorate them so they wont just look like a wipes container.

2. Milk & water jugs:

  • If you garden you could use them to hold water.
  • We always saved them to carry watter back and fourth to the fish tank when we changed or refilled the water in the tank when we were growing up at my moms.

 3.  Glass Baby food jars:

  • The glass ones you can save and use them to hold spare change, Have one for each type of change.
  • Also you can use them to hold bolts, nails, screws ETC.
  • And you can organize your craft or school supplies, always good to hold little items like glitter or those little eyes..ETC..
  • And great to hold spices and herbs too!

4.  Plastic Gerber baby food containers.

  • They are great to hold little snacks(Gerber puffs, Gold fish etc.) and carry them in your diaper box or in your child's lunch box.

5.    Coffee Cans:

  • You can decorate them if you choose. that foam craft stuff and hot glue is the easiest way I have found so far.
  • Both the little and big cans make great pen and pencil holders.
  • You can also use them to hold paint brushes, or anything you can think of.
  • Also if you cut a slit in the lid makes a good piggy banks too!

 6.  Baby bottles

  • you can reuse old baby bottles to hold mixed up paint, and glue for crafts, school supplies and artwork.
  • Can also use them as oil containers, for salads and what ever else you use your olive oil for.

7. Cool whip & butter bowls.

  • You know the containers that have the lids that some foods come in well, They are great to store leftovers, or fresh baked cookies or brownies in or even if your sending someone some food you don't have to worry about getting them back.

8. Plastic packaging with zippers.

The things that comforters, and sheets come in.

  • The bigger ones you could store blankets and winter clothes in the summer and vice-versa.
  • Or you can even use them to store old toys or anything you can think of.
  • The smaller ones are good to organize barbie doll clothes, shoes, any kind of little toys. even good to organise your sewing box, or hold tooth brushes when on a trip.
  • Also good to hold medicine, rash cream, and anything else so if it got opened it wouldn't get all over your diaper bag.

9. Beer & Wine bottles:

  • Make great flower vases, just rinse and wash them out, fill with water and add your favorite flowers!!! Any glass drink bottle works too.

 10. Old towels:

  • Can make great cleaning rags, Just cut or rip them up and you now have some good cleaning rags to clean windows, toilets, Wash your car... ETC!

I hope this helps you, to help save mother earth!!!

Please feel free to share some ideas and ways to reuse house hold items.

And I'll add more as I find new uses for old things.
